Bonduelle Fresh Americas has an immediate full-time position for an enthusiastic, hard-working Food Safety Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity to join a large, industry-leading food processor, Salinas-based shipper.
This position requires 2+ years of experience in the food industry or similar, knowledge of GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative standards), GAP and LGMA standards, and knowledge of compliance requirements for fresh produce including Produce Safety Rule and all other aspects of FSMA.


Under the direction of the Field Food Safety Manager, the position is responsible to conduct raw product sampling at the fields, and monitoring, and auditing compliance of all food safety policies and regulations of the raw produce suppliers. The successful candidate will have the ability to multi-task and take part in multiple tasks and multiple projects. Responsibilities include assisting in developing and maintaining and validating all food safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to internal programs.

 

Responsibilities & Duties: 
•    Responsible to drive to designated fields and lots and conducting field raw product sampling for microbiological testing, following company and customers sampling SOPs as applicable.
•    Complete all necessary forms and documentation for sampling collection and delivering samples to the laboratory for testing.
•    Responsible for conducting food safety audits of agricultural vegetable and fruit operations in various fields.
•    Conduct pre-season ranch risk assessments with contracted leafy greens growers.
•    Conduct pre-harvest ranch risk assessment verifications with contracted leafy greens growers.
•    Ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations, including the provisions of the Food Safety Modernization Act.
•    HAACP analysis and the development, implementation, and validation of food safety protocol, including that of commodity-specific guidance, in the field, and at harvest.
•    Interactions with growers to ensure practices comply with Food Safety standards.
•    Ensure all company food safety policies; SOP and SSOP’s are being followed.
•    Implementation of policy and procedures to meet the requests of customers.
•    Represent Ready Pac on any Third-party or LGMA audit. 
•    Maintaining necessary compliance paperwork related to food safety and organic programs.
•    Conduct food safety and sanitation training, as directed by the Field food safety manager.
•    Assist in effectively communicating food safety policies to all company employees and growers.
•    Help develop and establish sanitation programs/standards that are consistent with GFSI standards, GAPs, and Current Good Manufacturing Practices and all Federal, State, and Regulatory requirements.
•    Ensure sanitation requirements are maintained in all areas of the cooling facility under scope.
•    Conduct internal audits based upon multiple audit schemes; develop and implement corrective action plans.
•    Monitor food safety alerts on an ongoing and regular basis and forwards to management, as appropriate.
•    Attend site leadership meetings to report and help drive continuous improvement in sanitation, food safety, quality, and preventative maintenance.

 

Requirements: 
•     2+ years’ experience in Agriculture and the food industry is preferred.
•    Bilingual in English & Spanish.
•    Good driving records
•    Must have reliable transportation to drive to the designated field as required.
•    Basic computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint, and Google platform.
•    Knowledge of (GFSI) Global Food Safety Initiative standards.
•    Expert in CA and AZ LGMA Food Safety standards.
•    Familiar with FSMA and produce safety rules
•    Knowledge of compliance requirements for fresh produce. 
•    Regular travel within California, and Arizona. 
•    Occasional travel throughout Florida, New Jersey, Canada, and Mexico.
•    Relocation to Arizona required November- March.
