The successful candidate will play a leading role in maturing Procurement’s strategic and operational purpose, one of enabling business success through sustained and enriched third party relationships. Success for the role will be recognized through the development of operational excellence in the management of non-strategic and tactical Packaging Procurement efforts. Additionally, the role will be recognized through the support of the overarching Packaging Procurement strategic success, through the analytical support of strategic sourcing. 

 

Accountabilities consist directly of the non-strategic sourcing decisions, the cost analytics and negotiations, the contracting excellence, the category sourcing governance, and supplier relationship management. Responsibilities include business translation of needs into sourcing and the development and leveraging of business stakeholder and supplier collaboration platforms. This will require the candidate to be able to demonstrate maturity in the following core Procurement and business leadership competencies:

  • Managed the spend across categories 
  • Four production facilities all located in the US
  • Sourcing supply chain is predominantly US-based
  • The position will be located in Irwindale, CA


Definitive Role Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

Managing the broad operational aspects of Packaging Procurement

  • Maintains the packaging taxonomy and segmentation output in support of the packaging sourcing team
  • Owns packaging KPI dashboard and validation of results with Finance
  • Supports the development and maintains the upstream risk management frameworks for the packaging team 
  • Manages ERFX and other procurement tools for the packaging team  
  • Works with supply-chain/demand planning to assure that supply orientation is optimized (MOQs, inventories, etc.)
  • Accountable for supplier performance management program

 

Managing the sourcing of non-strategic Packaging categories/sub-categories

  • Develops and manages sourcing approach for designated non-strategic categories/sub-categories
  • Develops value proposition for non-strategic categories/sub-categories, with the articulation of key sources of value that are transparent in the P&L
  • Manages, with support from the team, the ESG requirements for the packaging categories/sub-categories (i.e. traceability, due diligence, diversity)
  • Negotiates contracts and pricing terms with suppliers as appropriate within the governance framework
  • Works with Finance and Supply Chain on an ongoing basis in forecasting, standard-setting, budget setting processes
  • Assures that specifications are optimized, reflected in prices, and serve as the means for conformance and performance 
  • Develops supplier relationship and collaboration models for non-strategic category suppliers

 

Providing Packaging component market analytics and insights 

  • Keeps abreast of procurement best practices, game-changing approaches, and technology trends to drive current standards for operating
  • Provides packaging team with relevant market price, supply-demand analytics
  • Creates periodic market analysis with external data

 

Required Qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in Procurement or Supply Chain or undergraduate degree in business with commensurate procurement experience. A graduate degree in business or associated technical area is also preferred 
  • Five to seven of experience with visible progression in capability and competency Procurement
  • High level of demonstrated proficiency in the specific areas of procurement operations management, sourcing, risk management analytics, and fact-based decision making
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of procurement tools like RFI/RFP, Mintec, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in creating internal and external collaborative relationships
