Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Manager role is accountable for the development, implementation and monitoring of Food Safety and Quality programs at our Jackson, GA site. In conjunction with Corporate support, the position leads the establishment, maintenance and improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems to ensure the production of safe and high quality products . The role is key in ensuring compliance to company, customer, regulatory and other requirements, while advancing the food safety and quality culture. Additionally, the Quality Manager will be responsible for leading and developing the Quality & Sanitation Teams, including three direct reports (Quality Supervisor, Sanitation Supervisor, and Food Hygienist), along with a team of indirect reports.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Science or related field, with minimum 5-10 years of progressively responsibility in Quality
- HACCP & FSMA PCQI Certifications required
- GFSI understanding, including SQF standards to implement and maintain site compliance
- Prior experience with USDA and FDA required
- Competent in Quality Tools to drive continuous improvement (e.g. Pareto charts, flow diagrams, process control charts, histograms, root cause analysis, corrective/preventive action, etc.)
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong skills in leadership, communication, self-motivation, influencing others, analytics and problem solving
Responsibilities
- Oversees the development, maintenance, and improvement of the Food Safety and Quality Management Systems to maintain the highest standards, including HACCP, Preventive Controls, Food Defence/Fraud, Risk Assessments, sanitary design, cGMPs, training, etc.
- Manages the daily activities of the site’s Quality & Sanitation organization, including manufacturing technical support and compliance, resource allocation, problem-solving, process improvement, etc.
- Acts as SQF Practitioner for the site.
- Owns the site’s Food Safety & Quality performance objectives and results, including key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Leads the site’s Food Safety and Quality internal and external audits, including 2nd-party, customer, regulatory, etc.
- Acts as the liaison with external parties, including regulatory agencies, customers, etc.
- Helps drive the overarching business priorities and continuous improvement within the site.
- Leads the development of the site’s Quality & Sanitation Teams, including planning, training, coaching, etc.
- Acts as a business partner to both Quality & Sanitation teams and cross-functional team members, including site and Corporate levels.
- The role may require minimal travel (less than 5%).
