Position Summary:

Directly supervises up to 40 associates in the Sanitation department that work on 3rd shift. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

 

What you will Do:

  • Trains and supervises sanitation associates and any other associates working in the sanitation operations. Monitors the progress of new trainees.

  • Complies and enforces all safety rules and regulations to maintain a safe work environment.

  • Oversees the effective cleanliness of the entire plant and processing equipment within the allocated time frame

  • Conducts a pre-operational sanitation inspection to assure that all areas have been properly cleaned and are ready for operation.

  • Completes and documents the daily cleaning schedule as described in the Master Schedule to comply with food safety programs (QTV, HACCP, AIB, etc.).

  • Monitors and documents the use of sanitation chemicals and supplies.  Manage chemical inventory & order supplies as needed.

  • Maintain chemical storage area & prep empty containers for return to vendor.

  • Maintain all MSS, PIC, PEC, daily cleaning & training records for audit compliance.

  • Monitors that sanitation equipment is being used properly and is accounted for. Assures that hoses are placed back onto their holders. Audits the condition of the sanitation equipment and writes work orders to correct any defects found. Submits work orders to the Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices with all sanitation associates to comply with AIB and USDA programs.

  • Assists other supervisors as needed. When performing work in another area/duties, reports to appropriate manager/supervisor and follows directive in that area.

  • Must have knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control, Safe Quality Food (SQF), and Organic Guidelines.

  • Must work in tandem with QA to review micro testing when applicable

  • Adhere to & monitor the motorized equipment policies & water conservation policy

  • Actively participates in safety training & programs, identifies unsafe conditions and works to resolve said conditions.

  • Adheres to all disciplinary action, safety & training guidelines with appropriately

  • Certify chemical safety training is complete for all sanitation associates & ensure all associates utilize the correct PPE daily

  • Manages associate labor including front line schedule, breaks, lunches & OT

 

What you will Need:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; AIB sanitation certification desired, or one to three years-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal. 

  • Must be able to be HACCP trained, AIB certified, and CPR certified

  • Strong computer skills and ability to multi-task.

  • Willingness and flexibility to work in a cold, wet, fast-paced, 24 hour plant environment.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, ability to climb stairs numerous times a day.

  • Ability to work independently and foster a positive team environment.
