Position Summary:
The QA Team lead oversees & directly supervises all of the activities of the QA department within the assigned shift in accordance with the organizations policies & applicable regulations, including interviewing & training associates; planning, assigning & directing work; appraising performance; rewarding & disciplining associates; addressing complaints & resolving problems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support & direction to QA coordinators to manage QA/Post Harvest.     
  • Responsible for the development of associates in the team by coaching, training, & communication feedback.     
  • Problem-solving of quality issues of raw products with Production.     
  • Ensure that incoming raw product, ingredients, condiments & packaging are inspected by auditing documents on floor & shadowing inspectors.     
  • Conducts internal facility audits weekly & publishes reports to appropriate parties to address non-conformances & assure continuous improvement. Audit daily & publish reports weekly.     
  • Use shelf live results & customer/consumer feedback to identify process improvements & communicate recommendations.  Communicate & work closely with all departments to achieve quality standards, identify food safety.     
  • Assist in product traceability & investigation of internal Foreign Objects. Investigate all & answer customer complaints as needed.    
  • Order & maintain QA supply inventories, process requisitions, PO & follow up on approvals in JDE to ensure lab supplies are well stocked 
  • Communicates with production & Ag Ops any inbound &/or raw quality issues as needed 
  • Monitors hold (non-conforming products), & expired products hold form & disposition, & reports deviations promptly & recommends corrective actions. 
  • Ensure H&R sample submission & COAs are compliant to internal & customer requirements. 
  • Facilitate monthly staff meetings & prepare agenda for daily huddle meetings.     


Other Responsibilities: 

  • Review & approve work schedules, manage PTO & Overtime 
  • Assist in the preparation of SOPs  & One Point Lessons – OPLs 
  • Prepare weekly reports & facilitate Eagle Eye Meetings.
  • Assists in managing the Incentive Program 
  • Shadow inspections to confirm standard operating procedures & SOPs are being followed. 
  • Assist in managing product evaluation sample requests & inspection, & shipment of samples as requested by customers. 
  • Fill in for QA leadership staff on an as needed basis with USDA-FSIS, vendors & or customers.
  • Troubleshoot issues, monitors for Safe Quality Food (SQF) compliance & enforces Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) programs, including training on GMP/HACCP/SQF for all associates. 
  • Conducts Behavioral Based Safety Audits & Identifies safety hazards within the QA work   areas & reports them on the weekly BBS audits to Safety Department Guidelines.
  • Validate CCP in automated wash water systems on monthly basis
  • Conduct Alchemy training
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • College Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Agriculture or related Science field preferred, or equivalent combination of education & experience.
  • 3-5 Years related experience required 
  • Must have knowledge of food safety programs (HACCP, GMPs, Sanitation, Pest Control,  Safe Quality Food (SQF), & Organic)
  • Must be able to become HACCP Trained
  • Other skills, systems experience, competencies (results oriented…), computer abilities
  • Ability to work well in a team environment & collaborate up & down the organization
  • A proven track record of results with a bias for action
  • A passion for learning & a craving to work in a fun culture
